About

Hi, welcome to the blog. My background is in Fine Art - i studied for 4 years at Reading University in the UK (81-85) and then carried on painting, renting studios and exhibiting up to 1993. After travelling around the USA i returned and started to make films. My work is more tone poem than narrative, i try to combine elements in new ways and i like playing with the material of the film just as much as the story.

This blog began as a way of chronicling the making of a film called 'Market' about the life and times of Bermondsey Antiques Market in South London - officially called 'New Caledonian Market'. I made the film over 4 and half years from January 2006 to September 2010 - the reason it took that long is that the film not only told the story of the market from 1855 to the present, it also told the real time changes around Bermondsey Square as the area was regenerated. This was finally completed around January 2010 and i edited for about 9 months!

Well the film is finished, it was screened (so far) 4 times to a very good reception and is available to order from this website. Now the Blog is about any future screenings, and more general mutterings about new projects, and stuff mainly around film and art.

I have a website which is more of a static archive of my previous work and contains paintings, drawings, some film clips and stories i wrote a few years back - take a look,  think there are some interesting things to see, but don't forget to come back to the blog for regular 'live' updates. Cheers.
