Here is another of my 'older' films, one of my favourites - 'Dreamland' an experimental doc i guess about the funfair that exists for only 3 days every year in the middle of Oxford - Chaos reigns amongst the dreaming spires, as colour, light and candyfloss invade one of the main streets: St Giles. I would love to go back sometime and re-film this beautiful extravaganza, but for now this will have to suffice. The music is The Rolling Stones: 2000 Light Years from Home, which fits well the 'otherworldlyness' of the funfair. The film was filmed in Super 8mm, again a choice that fits the timelessness and strangeness of the fair. Besides filming during the evenings, I wanted to shine a light on the construction of the fair, and the community of riggers who appear from nowhere and make it happen.
Below is RM159 my tribute to the Routemaster Bus in London. Made in 2005 and filmed in the last few days of the Routemaster route number 159 in Brixton. It was a pivoatal film for me to make - see my latest blog.
Filmed over 3 days, the film chronicles the final moments of the Routemaster Bus in London, I especially love the compositing of the images and the accidental layers of light and shade that make almost every frame worth of a longer look.
